Review on Epic Shield Water: The Ultimate Solution for Contaminant Removal by Marcus Barlow

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Believe it. Very happy

I was looking at several different under counter water filters to connect to an insulated drinking water faucet. I chose the Epic Smart Shield on the recommendation of a friend who manages several dozen single family homes in Omaha, Nebraska where municipal water quality was an issue. He told me he installed Epic filters in all of his rentals because of their excellent certification standards, ease of installation, and the fact that they're made in the USA. He also said these filters have been installed for more than six months with no problems. That's enough for me. I bought an Epic and it arrived within a few days in quality packaging. Installing with modern plumbing would have taken about 20 minutes (finding tools and installing it would have taken the same amount of time), my installation took longer as I connected it to a potable water faucet as opposed to an existing faucet which requires some extra parts. I couldn't be happier with the result. We live in rural Wisconsin and are near a well with relatively good water quality, so I didn't notice much of a difference in water quality. However, I am confident that I am doing everything in my power to protect my family's health by providing them with the safest drinking and cooking water, especially for our two young children and an unborn child. ***UPDATE*** After a few weeks of using Epic, my wife says there's definitely a better difference in taste and mouthfeel (I still don't feel it, but that doesn't matter, does it). Below are the parts and tools needed to install Epic on an insulated drinking water faucet: Drinking water faucet, $25; Braided stainless steel flexible water pipe, $8; brass chip, $7; Step drill (for drilling a stainless steel sink), $45. The total was less than $100, half of which was for the step drill. Best of all, if you can borrow a step drill, it will only take you about 20 seconds to drill holes in an inexpensive stainless steel sink.

Pros
  • UNDER WATER FILTERS: Smart Shield sets the standard for the under-sink water filter category on Amazon. This is the perfect home water filter. EASY INSTALLATION Do it yourself: no plumbing, no hassle with a third faucet or drilling holes in the counter. The Smart Shield connects directly to your kitchen sink's cold water line. It only takes a few minutes. All you need is an adjustable wrench and a standard Phillips screwdriver. This makes the Smart Shield the perfect undersink water filter.
Cons
  • Short manual
