These dividers fit very well. They are attractive and very functional. I need a length that will fit within the confines of all shorts and I was concerned they wouldn't hold enough tension. So I decided to try this longer length and trimmed it 1 1/2" to accommodate my 16 1/8" wingspan. In fact, I was able to successfully snip 1 7/8" off the device to fit my span with very heavy tension. I first used a razor blade to remove the silicone gasket from the fixed end of the divider, then used one thin saw to cut 1 7/8" hardwood from the fixed end. Using a small amount of glue I attached the silicone gasket. I wouldn't cut any more than that because sooner or later you end up in the source area of the splinter. The wood cuts well without noticeable damage chips.
