I first bought a cheap case for my iPad but it didn't have an apple pencil holder. It has a pencil slot that works very well. My pencil fits snugly and I can carry my iPad around without fear of it falling out. The pencil also slides out of the slot from below very easily. I also bought a cap holder and pen cap for the pen and although I can leave the cap on the pen, the pen cap does not fit in the pen slot. The lid doesn't quite close with the lid, but I'm fine with that. The lid is nicely framed, thick and feels very sturdy. When folded, I didn't use it as a stand as the iPad normally sits on my lap. Definitely a buy recommendation.
