First, the signal quality is great over my 300ft CAT5e cable from my entertainment system in the front of my room to my projector in the back (the cable runs behind the walls and snakes around the furniture to get it there, where should she go). It's fast and responsive, and lag feels minimal, if any. I love that it can also be used as a hatch and that it only needs power from ONE side! My old HDMI extender required a power adapter on both the transmit and receive sides, but it can actually transmit power over Ethernet (PoE) cables, so the other side doesn't need its own adapter. Well THAT is amazing! That was one of the main reasons I was interested, as I use such an adapter in two cases: when I use my projector instead of a TV for movies, and when I move the camera at an event I want to broadcast live to the screen or into the streaming box for. Currently I need to power both ends of the network cable, but I figured I ONLY need power at the receiver and have THAT power at the transmitter. For example, in the case of a camera, I could make the screen receive the power of the signal being sent from the camera to the transmitter via PoE and be somewhat free of tethered power on that side. Also, when using the projector with the remote control, I was able to turn on the outlet that controls the projector as well as turn on the transmitter behind the TV. Fewer cords and outlets where it's already difficult/cluttered - that's good! THE PROBLEM, however, is that this thing falls short of its potential by just sending power from the TRANSMITTER! In other words, I can power the receiver side from the PoE transmitter, but the RECEIVER can't power the transmitter! It just goes in the same direction as the HDMI signal. This was disappointing for me as this is the side I wanted to save from having to connect more cables. Non-Receiving Party. This side is never a problem for power supply. So I was a bit upset about that. But otherwise it's a solid product that seems to do what it says on the tin and seems more reliable than my previous setup. If he could send energy from ANY way that would be great! So close this time!
