Revainrating 3 out of 5

Too much clearance (1/2 inch tilt) between the arm itself and the pivot of the adjustment point

I have a 2016 Honda CB500X that needed a new brake arm after crashing on the track was rocks all over the fire road. A long part of my stock lever broke off. Note that 2016 and later CB500X come with an adjustable brake lever, so I wasn't sure if this version of the levers would actually fit, but hey, the Honda replacement was $62 (too much for a standard brake lever) , so I decided to try them out. and effectively matched the butt-lever-barch pattern. However, there is a BIG game: from 3/8" to 1/2" of vertical tilt. It fits the brake light switch snugly so horizontal play (on and off) is normal, it sucks the lever up and down. the absence of a protrusion from which the lever itself is connected to the adjustment point (which is a vertical hinge, both ends of which are fixed to connect the lever to the perch). I'm not overly concerned but I doubt I'll be keeping it on the bike for very long, but at least I can use them as a regular parts kit. Also note that there were small stickers on the levers that read "250". So my guess is that while they're cut for 250, they work. I have no safety concerns, just concerned about durability - don't want to be stuck with a fully clogged brake and/or clutch lever. Will I buy again? Well I only bought this one because they were cheap and I'm getting closer to auto inspection time, but overall I think I'd explore a bit more to see what else is out there, which might be a little more specific to the 2013 -19 is Honda CB500 lineup. So for me this is 3rd class - it arrived quickly, was cheap, fit well, worked quickly and worked. However, this is not entirely correct. I don't claim perfection, but that vertical flexibility doesn't bode well for longevity. If you need levers they will work (well a brake will do; again I haven't used a clutch yet) and if you want something fast and cheap they will. Just don't expect the perfect bike replacement.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
