I have four slingboxes and two slingcatchers. I have a good friend in Brazil. He wanted to watch the NFL while he was in Brazil and I wanted to watch Brazilian TV while I was here in the US. On one of my trips, I brought a Slingbox Pro to Rio de Janeiro and installed it in my girlfriend's apartment. He also bought a slingshot to install in his apartment to keep track of my US slingshots. The advantage of the Slingcatcher is that you can connect it directly to your TV and use it like a regular cable or satellite TV tuner. We've both encountered an issue with remote Slingshot viewing on Catcher as opposed to desktop software. It took some research to find a solution, which is that you need to redirect the remote box to show an international slingbox. You will need some technical knowledge to do this. After I shipped the box here to the US and he shipped the box to Rio, we both enjoy watching TV. Now he's throwing parties in Rio for all the Yankees to watch the NFL. My Brazilian friends can watch more than 30 Brazilian channels here. Is it worth learning to carry on? DirecTV charges $20/month for one Brazilian channel and $40/month for four channels. I get over thirty channels for free. It's really worth it for me and my friends in Brazil. Another caveat. The quality of the image you receive depends on the download speed at the remote site and the download speed at the viewing site. Since my upload speed is so high, my friend in Brazil gets much better quality than me. If the installation didn't require any technical skills I would give the catcher five stars. He does what he has to do. It's unfortunate that Sling hasn't released a firmware update to fix the setup issue.
