Review on Enhanced Convection Fan Motor Assembly for Samsung DG96-00110E by Eddie Pollard

Not quite compatible

was purchased to replace the top fan in the oven. As others have noted, this fan points the power lugs in the opposite direction. No big deal, I just added 6 inches or so to the wires to allow them to reach. Installed the motor and then tried to attach the fan. The nut didn't turn! I struggled for a while that cross threads would do it so I removed the motor and tried to find a suitable nut (large trash can) and after 30 minutes found nothing, I realized that the threads were the end the motor shaft are LEFT-HAND threads while the original had right-hand threads. I thought there might be a different upper/lower motor but no. It's just not quite right. I ended up taking apart a few motors and replacing the old shaft with a new motor and bearings (and flipping them over so the connectors were in the right place). I could buy a replacement mounting nut and hope it's left-hand, but they're $11 - crazy price. I suspect Samsung changed the left-hand thread at some point and didn't update the part number. Or the search for parts does not depend on the serial number, but it should be. I'd rate this as bad, but it seems the engine model number shows up as "DG96-00110E" fairly consistently with no mention of options. Considering it's Samsung, it's probably their fault. The replacement, now that it's in stock, seems to be working fine. Tree shading technique at its finest.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Hard to remember but
