This is a great starter set if you have never riveted before. They are primarily designed for small projects, for gluing fabric, nylon, leather etc, not metal or anything super heavy. I don't think they will hold up anything well under a lot of stress like a tent, although I imagine they might work in a pinch. I use them in making knife sheaths. Everything is included, all you need is a hammer. There are different colors and lengths of the pens and the tools are very easy to use. The hole punch was a bit jagged and I reamed it up a bit with a dremel and it all worked perfectly. I bought this kit for a specific purpose, but after getting it I found many other things it was useful for, so it's great to have even for general repairs or polishing something. As I said, they are not difficult, but they can be used endlessly and you can even use them to make decorative patterns on clothing, backpacks, etc.
