I have slept on many futons, but this is not the futon you find in Japan. I moved here from Japan and was looking to get a futon because we couldn't ship ours. It's like a thick sleeping bag. It's flat and thin. I tried airing it out and letting the air in to fluff it up for over 10 days. I do this every day to really try to loosen it up, but it's still flat as ever. We had to spend more money to buy another mattress. Very uncomfortable. You may feel the ground beneath you and after 2 weeks you may experience neck and back pain. It's expensive for what you can get in Japan. I do not recommend.
