First of all I would like to point out that this is by no means a blue laser. Blue lasers are closer to 450nm, which is 405nm, making them violet and ultraviolet. It's the same as black light. The beam is actually much brighter than it looks because most of the energy comes from the ultraviolet region. You can test this cheaply by simply pointing the beam at anything that fluoresces in the black light, such as a car. B. the cheapest clear plastic housing. The stain suddenly turns light blue as the plastic reacts to UV light and emits visible blue light. This is quite dangerous for people who think it's just a weak laser as it will damage eyes quickly anyway. Be careful. Other than that I think this module works pretty well and I like the heatsink/case. It feels solid and the focusing lens works well. I tested it at both 3.3V and 5V. I couldn't tell any difference in radiance between the two and unfortunately can't test the optical output yet. In terms of current draw, it draws around 100mA at 3.3V (330mW) and at 5V around 66mA (again, 330mW). This is what happens when testing an ATX desktop power supply. With a CR2032 battery, the performance was terrible. He just can't keep up with the current draw. The beam dims almost to zero in a few seconds. The connection for three AAA batteries works very well. I'm not sure how long this will last, but at 4.5V the beam works great. As a bonus (unfocused) this laser works very well as a black light flashlight.
