I bought this clock for the specific purpose of having a working clock in my bedroom, when the power goes out--which is happening a lot. I live in the Sierra Foothills, and we have had torrential rains, floods and multiple power outages. And, of course, all digital clocks have to be re-set each time. I do have a number of Atomic clocks in the house, but none in my bedroom. I was looking for a small battery-operated clock that will continue to work with no power. This one is absolutely great. I had no idea that I would be able to find such a clock that looks digital, but runs by battery (4 AA's). I was simply going to keep this in my nightstand, but I like it so much that it's a permanent fixture. There is no problem reading the numbers from across the room. It's perfect for my needs!
