This is the cutest dress for a 1 year old. My niece is actually a bigger baby. She is 12 months old, weighs 24 pounds and has been wearing clothes for 24 months. So I was concerned that the dress would not fit as it only fits a size 12m for 'one' outfit. It fit her very well. In fact, she was wearing overalls underneath. (see photo) So don't worry about older children. He will. I'm not sure I would recommend going down a size to others, but I've seen some feedback to consider this if you have a smaller child.
