Review on Max Wax Pens Inch PEN 500 00 by Carol Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great as a filament burner - too bad it doesn't come with replacement tips

it worked fine when I got it. It didn't last that long so I changed the batteries just thinking they were battery powered but I use rechargeable ones so no big deal. But since I changed the batteries it has lasted a long time so I think it came with weak batteries only. I use this for yarn, not wax, and the fabric can still be burned, but at least not as easily as with a lighter. The tip is fragile. It flexed once and I bent it back, but I suspect it will break if this happens a few times. It's too fragile to be cleaned. I can see debris on it but it doesn't seem to cause any problems so maybe it doesn't matter much. I've looked for replacement nibs and they are available but seem to be more expensive than they should be compared to the price of the actual pen. It would be nice if it included 1 spare but I don't really need it yet so maybe it doesn't matter. I'm happy with that. They make filament burners like this but the reviews say they are really poorly made so I was glad to find that. The whole thing is a rebranded Bovie moxibustion stick (for medical use) so I figured it would at least be functional, and it is. no idea if it's meant to be used with wax!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Does not get hot enough to do anything. Returning and ordering a different pen.
