It was intended as a birthday gift - so I didn't want to spend a few hundred dollars on an arcade. The cars themselves touch the track with what I would call worn wire. Most slot machines that I'm used to have a metal latch. So more than anything, I spend my time straightening and fixing the wire so it touches the rail. And then my kids push the car back and do things that fray the wire. The build was good, I expected it to be less than 100% perfect at this price point, but surprisingly it wasn't that bad. The plastic stuck well and I was left with only one metal tab that I had to "fix" with pliers. The metal is a box at one end and flattened into a point at the other so that the point slides into the box. The only problem was that one of them had a crumpled tip and I had to reshape it. The triggers have held up so far, the cars are good, the caterpillar is holding up. We'll see how long the cars last, but still, if the wire frays to pieces, it's pretty easy to fix. Or just buy new cars.
