I used this for the first time on a fishing trip. I caught some big blue catfish and cut them into fillets. I tried vacuum sealing them and found that the heating element didn't get hot enough to seal the moisture in the path. Therefore, I recommend everyone to have towels ready to dry before using this item. For this reason I am rather disappointed with this article at the moment. I was planning to use it on an upcoming hunting trip so I could seal everything up and put it in the fridge for more convenient and compact storage. I would recommend trying a different sealant. June 29, 2020 After much more use than previously stated. If your packaging is damp, e.g. a fresh fish fillet, it will not seal properly as liquid will seep into the seal. Patting items dry will seal them properly. Upon learning of this, I have upgraded my previous rating from 2 stars to 4. If you plan on wet curing or fermenting anything that contains liquid, this is not recommended. Glad I didn't get rid of my cheap sealer which has a wet or dry storage function so I can store soup or wet food. March 30, 2021 I have used for everything (travel cooking, wild boar, birds, fish and game). Make it easy for yourself to pack everything in the fridge for the way back. Reduces moisture and air damage.
