Review on Zojirushi NS-LHC05 Micom Rice Cooker & Warmer: Efficient Stainless Dark Brown Appliance by Jim Ball

Replacement for a 5 year old Panasonic SR-DF101 (non-stick pad failure). Startled by a reviewer who said it was a fake Zojirushi but the result looks well made, 3mm thick pot and water level well marked, manuals and warranty papers well written. These 3 cups are one of the few small units, most of these are 5+ cups and are too big for me. Normal rice cooks in 1 hour, countdown timer with alarm (choice of silly tune or soft beeps). With this pressure cooker, moisture collects in the holder under the outer steamer lid, see picture, simply remove the lid after cooking and soak up the water with a sponge. They don't seem to make a traditional quick release moisture basket cooker anymore. It bubbles over the steamer lid, but the steamer lid is easy to remove for cleaning. Inner top 2 covers, only the bottom one pulls out easily for cleaning, see fig, which definitely needs regular cleaning. The paddle blade for rice can be mounted on both sides. No steam basket and no steam mode. The cooked rice turns out smooth and fluffy, just like I would expect from any Japanese cooker. Made in China. I currently see that the Costco Tiger JBV-S10U is made in Japan. PET-PEEVE: The PDF manual is not searchable. BIG WARNING: The edges of the pot are not rounded and seem sharp to me, might bother people who are always in a hurry. FEATURE or ANNOUNCEMENT, YOU DECIDE: clock is fixed military time, effective for people who can "count fast" but can annoy others; The menu always reverts to regular rice between uses, which is convenient for most people but annoying for others who take the time to cook something else. Cooking for 1 hour requires 0.08 kWh. THE CLOCK WILL NOT RESET AUTOMATICALLY!
