Review on Black Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Professional Grade Studio Monitor Headphones with Detachable Cable - Critically Acclaimed by Sai A Nyi ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is top notch, be sure to try it.

The M50x are my first expensive monitors and I'm 90% satisfied with them. Card - Creative SB Z. Bass - at first it seems that there are not enough of them, but then you understand - it is: dense, without unnecessary hum / boom / bounce, sufficient depth (up to 40 Hz, according to the equalizers and your ears). The middle is detailed and natural. Top - everything is in place, they do not cut the ear at all. All three complete laces are involved (straight - PC, short - tablet, spring - receiver). True, there are a few fly in the ointment. The first pair (personal) - the ear pads are a little small (solvable - they are removable, I'll deal with it soon); headphones attract extra looks on the street. The third one is the Realtek plug-in (mother of MSI Z77), smartphone/tablet (Note 2/Galaxy Tab Pro) give mediocre (dirty and not bright) sound with low maximum volume. So on a PC it will be necessary to acquire a normal sound card, and for a tablet / smartphone I used V4A - it allowed me to squeeze the volume to a sufficient level and make the sound closer to listening on a PC. Fourth - I had to radically go through the existing audio library - everything that is not of CD origin (for example, from Youtube), too compressed (mp3 128 - 192kbps) and just badly ripped does not sound as we would like to :/ So gradually all the most beloved moving to flac :)

Pros
  • - excellent sound (quite honest and without obvious flaws) - good sound insulation (sufficient for street / transport) - design without obvious weaknesses - spectacular appearance, IMHO (I took the Blue version) - detachable cord (no need to climb behind the system unit to disconnect / connect if you want to listen to music on other equipment) - low impedance, which allows you to listen to music on players / smartphones / tablets with almost no problems (see comment)
Cons
  • - an extremely considerable price (you need to thoroughly strangle your toad) - (individual) ear pads are too small - will require the purchase of a sound card and an ate to the audio library - inconvenient position of the plug socket, the cord often clings to the collar
