Review on πŸ’ƒ Vintage Art Deco Dress - BABEYOND Roaring 20s Sequins Beaded Dress with Long Fringes, Great Gatsby Flapper Dress by Smokeythecryptkeeper Kaewchay

Revainrating 4 out of 5

All right, ladies, that's the deal with this dress.

First of all, this is a beautiful dress. I bought it to ring in 2020 in 1920's style. I recommend it! Can I say this is $50 quality? no I think all the embroidery and sequins add to the price. But it's definitely not the worst or cheapest piece of clothing I've gotten from Revain. Among cheap Chinese made clothes I give this dress 8 out of 10. Two issues with the dress are related to its fit: 1. I ordered medium according to the sizing chart and mainly looked at the waist measurement as this usually determines whether the clothes will fit me or not. I know my waist in inches and ordered accordingly. My waist is 29-30 inches so I ordered a medium size which according to the size chart fits a 29-31 inch waist. In fact, the dress sits loosely on my waist. And at the upper back where the zipper ends, there is a big gap between my body and the dress. Just so much extra room.2. In the photo, the top of the V-shaped design, where the fringes hang down, starts basically at the girl's waist, the narrowest part of her torso. Based on that expectation, the dress I received has a low waist silhouette with the V bodice starting well below the navel. It also depends on the mid/lower thigh. It's not as short as in the photo. The actual flapper dresses of the 1920s weren't form fitting, they were loose fitting and they definitely all had low waists. Sooooo technically the dress fit me historically correct but I live in Vegas and I want it to be short and tight yes :). It doesn't look like the picture, which is why we 99% buy it, right? Based on that principle alone, it sucks. Ultimately I would have to be much taller, have much larger breasts and be about 3-4 inches taller for this to be the exact size shown in the picture. but I ordered by actual measurements so who knows. I ordered a small one but for now I'm keeping the medium one awaiting a return. If it doesn't work out with the small one, I'll still wear the middle one on New Year's Eve :) I'll feel very, very comfortable in it and look modest. And historically correct I think. I don't want to say "it runs big, get one size smaller than usual" but I would say it's a little looser and longer than advertised. Be sure to keep an eye on your hip measurements as this part has the least "compliance" and now that I've tried it on I'd say it's the most important. No doubt the photo we're looking at is the XS and I think they just don't do the most accurate job of technically evaluating them from there.
