This patch cord comes very handy for my current pastime of transferring 78 shellac records to master cassettes. The player connects to an amplifier where the bass and treble are adjusted, then exits the amplifier's headphone jack (using the cable above) to take advantage of those audio adjustments and into a SONY cassette deck. When the tape is finished, it is used as the master for burning CDs, but this is where the patch cord comes into play. From the cassette deck to the amp, bass and treble are AGAIN matched, then through the headphone jack to the TEAC CD burner combo. Dual filtering helps eliminate the shellac's significant surface noise and significantly increases bass levels. A very effective way to amplify and enhance the sound of vintage 78s without resorting to Dolby, which I think spoils the freshness of the recordings with its strong frequency shift effect. Yes, I have a special need, but I couldn't continue without this device.
