Review on πŸ’» Lenovo ThinkPad Advanced Mini-Dock Port Replicator (250410U) for Improved SEO by Joseph Adaymiln

3 years later still alive and well

I have had this as my second home use dock since March 2006 and it has served me well. In fact it will last longer than the T60 I've been using since as the T60 will be replaced by the T400 in a few days - you don't need a new mini dock as it's fully compatible with the T400. For those unfamiliar with ThinkPad-style mini-docks, this is the most minimalistic design, exceeding the expectations of a "port replicator" and even adding some extra ports - see features below. - Small form factor. - Button to turn on/off the laptop or wake it up when connected to the network in sleep mode - Button to eject the laptop - Physical lock with physical keys for more security 9-cell battery.- Integrated ventilation hole, through which hot air can escape through the left side opening of the laptop. - Copies and sometimes duplicates the following ports: serial, parallel (who still uses them?), VGA, circular keyboard, DVI, RJ-11 phone line, RJ-45 ethernet, microphone, headphone, USB. - Adds 4 USB ports to the existing 3 USB ports on my laptop. to give me a total of 7 (SEVEN) usable ports on my docked T60. I found this docking station very easy to use and find it makes my professional life a lot easier. With 2 docking stations, one in my office and one in my home office, I can use full sized keyboards and big screen monitors whenever I want and it only takes me 2 seconds to get my laptop out of the docking station. Heat management is quite satisfactory. I had my T60 replaced because it has been overheating and has been shutting itself down (black screen) lately. This is bad behavior from the T60 but it is over 3 years old and has been used for many hours every day of its life. However, I would like to point out that probably over 90% of the black screens occurred when the laptop was NOT docked, so it seems to work less when docked. I can only give 5 stars for a product as practical and reliable as this one. And if, as promised, it supports the T400, I'll update my review to reflect that. _________________________________ Update: I've been using the docking station with my new T400 and I'm happy to report that everything works great. I had the same convenience, zero problems.
