I have two of these. One for pens, the other for makeup brushes, sponges and more. I am very happy with both. Now I know where my things are. I put on makeup in the car more often than I should. My husband is one of those people who wants to be there very early. Even after many years I still haven't gotten used to it. So I adapt as best I can. The hinged lid is particularly practical. It keeps things in place, but unless something dramatic happens, nothing falls out. I also keep my pencil folded all the time when I use it. All you need is a stable surface. I almost wish there was a strap. It would do both of them good. I will say it. If you have both a makeup stand and a brush case, you want one of them to be solid. All these flowers are in conflict. Hope this helps someone.
