Review on FX AUDIO Bluetooth Receiver Headphone Amplifier by Sabrina Hardy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good but not overwhelming

UPDATE: After a few days of using it I really started to grow. My initial midrange problem was related to the EQ setting on my computer. After I adjusted the mids a bit, the tube amp sang properly. It really works wonders for the vocals, the bass is a lot less boomy and the highs feel less harsh. The difference is like night and day and for that reason I give it 5 stars for the ridiculously low price, build quality and performance. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this to find out what all the fuss is about. headphone amplifier. I connected it to FX-Audio DAC-X6. The RCA output of the DAC-X6 feeds the input of the RCA Tube-03. Switching between them is pretty easy, so I can compare the difference. Like the DAC-X6, the Tube 03 shares the same fine build quality, with a beautiful brushed metal body and knobs, the pair look great on my desk. Regarding the sound quality, I have to say that for my non-audiophile ears I can't really say whether a tube amp has improved the sound, rather "different". The highs can sound a little less "harsh" on a tube amp, but it also sounds like there's a bit of a drift in the mids, can't pinpoint it yet. It definitely brings bass, even if it's maybe too strong for my taste, I had to turn it down. Overall, while it looks pretty cool, I can feel a difference with this tube amp that I could easily emulate just by playing with it. my balance. May I recommend it? For me personally, probably not. But like I said, I'm not a music lover, so maybe someone with a more discerning ear will appreciate this more. Even considering the price, I don't feel bad about spending money at all.
