The actual antenna we received was different than the one advertised. The coaxial cable is in the gallows. Definitely upgrade. So there are no complaints in this regard. The instruction manual was for a different model and had different inscriptions. (Just connect part A to part A etc.) The nuts are aluminum. Better update them. SETUP Setting up the antenna was fairly easy. We shot at 104.7MHz. The best response was on the antenna marked 106MHz. (So you may need to set it higher.) My Warner HF transmitter has a built-in SWR meter. It shows "direct" and "reflected" power. Just start the transmission with low power. Slowly increase the power until you see some reflected power (1-2W returned). Then change the frequency to see where it resonates. You want to reduce the reflectivity. This will give you a good idea of where to move the item. Repeat this process with higher power. The best I got was 1-2 watts, which reflected in an output of 150 watts. Just remember to increase the frequency, make it shorter; to lower the frequency, use it longer. PERFORMANCE Slightly better than my J-Pol antenna. Less hard static. Better range when transmitting in mono instead of stereo. Overall a solid well built antenna. On the high rise you are ready to go. I've heard that these types of antennas require more power. 10-500 watts, no problem. PROBLEMS Well, on the bad side, this little bitch is going to be HARD. Several pounds with outrigger mount. The extra weight drastically limits the height. Lighter antennas can be higher. The lighter the better. CONCLUSION If you are at the transmission site, it is already high and stable. Solid choice. take it and be happy But if you have trouble getting high. skip it It's just not worth the extra weight. ALTERNATIVE A fine tuned J-Pole or Slim Jim antenna is cheaper and can be mounted higher. It is much easier. Also, the J-Pole has a forward gain of about 3 dBi. KB9VBR makes a custom LPFM J-Pole and it's very good. For a few extra bucks, ask him to build a Slim-Jim for your Freg. This will give you the best range with the extra antenna height. Last, and this is important. Have fun with it!
