Bought in June to control two external monitors and really liked it. Until a week and a half ago. When I bought it I was using it on a 2016 MacBook Pro. Then I just bought a new late 2019 MacBook Pro in August. It worked fine, but I plugged it in one evening and the Mac's fan ran VERY hard for about 1/2 second and the Mac immediately shut down. I plugged it into the correct USB ports. When I restarted it, the right USB ports didn't work. I tried working with Apple Support thinking there was something wrong with the new Mac, but they couldn't help. (He's at a Mac repair shop as of this writing). Then, a few days later, my work MacBook Pro did EXACTLY the same thing. Except this time all 4 USB-C ports are burned out so I can't even charge it. I can't 100% say this device caused this, but it was the only device plugged in when it happened, so it seems likely that something went wrong with the Satechi and it started leaking bad juice in to pump the mac. Too bad because it was such a good device when it worked.
