As you can see in the photo this is brand new unopened packaging but it looks like there are nicks from the coating to attach it. It's not aesthetically pleasing, especially when I install it on a bike that's in perfect condition. It looks like the problem is with the RAM manufacturing and not with the seller's repackaging of used devices. Below is RAM Mount's response about the seller. "Thanks for photos. I'm sorry if the appearance of the sphere base didn't meet your expectations, but I would like to point out that this is part of our normal manufacturing process. The area on the post between the sphere and the base may not completely Injecting rubber material requires high injection pressure and injecting the rubber ball requires a tight fit to the post which will leave scratches on the post.and where the powder coating just won't take it the post is left unpainted.The bases are made of 369, 1 marine grade aluminum billet and you shouldn't have any issues with the weather affecting the base RAM mounts come with a lifetime warranty so if you have any issues with the base other than cosmetic contact us and we'll replace the damaged part ."
