Review on Krinner Genie Deluxe Christmas Stand by Matt Watkins

I bought this stand last year and am very impressed with it. Easy to set up, holds plenty of water and has a handy water gauge. Well this year I just got my tree and put it on this stand and closed the jaws with a lever. The jaws clenched, then suddenly released. I know that sometimes happens with the coaster so I pumped it up a bit more but this time it didn't seem to tighten. Eventually they helped me lift the tree up to see what was going on and the cable broke off on one side and wound almost completely into the ratchet and also seemed to be stuck there when I tried to pull it back. Outside. After about an hour of tugging and tugging, I finally cut the plastic sheathing around the ratchet to see what was going on and managed to free the cable from being stuck. I had a hard time pulling it back through the holes and setting it up, but now when I try to tighten it the cord just comes loose the same way. Disappointing mechanical failure. I've been using it for at least a year and thankfully I didn't throw away my old low tech stand that doesn't have a complicated mechanism to fail.
