Review on 🍷 Le Creuset Compact Wine Opener by Chris Moody

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Bring the handle back to the center. Someone changed their mind.

I'm finally rid of them. They turned a large wine corkscrew into a brittle mess. What a disappointment after the amazing screwpull I had with a similar design 35 years ago. But it works. I complain that both Le Creuset and Screwpull have opted for side crank rotation. This is very unnecessary and makes it uncomfortable. Nobody needs that much mechanical advantage for a cork. It should be centered on top like my old screwpull I got from Olive Garden 30 years ago. used for 30 years. BUT, since Le Creuset and Screwpull are now identical, I went with the cheaper LeCruset. Who knows, maybe Screwpull somehow did a better job on this design. If you can find a screwpull with a handle in the middle, buy it. This kind of design of pulling the plug up in a teflon handle is better. UPDATE: now it's broken. You can tell it was cheaper than my old screwpull by how loosely the pieces fit together. I am reducing my rating to 2 stars. Now that I know more, I'd happily pay $50 or more for the screwpull I had 35 years ago.
