Odor - Air Mattresses and Accessories

I replaced one of my 12 year old Select Comfort models with original REM airbags which very slowly began to leak. I bought 2 Sleep Number airbags which would be the same on both sides but didn't look like REM. air chambers. In SN airbags, my wife and I rolled to the center of the bed. No wall mount. I sold her and bought 1 more REM and replaced the female with REM. There was a strong New Block smell that really bothered me. I found out it was a connecting hose. The stench comes from the release of gas from the tubing material. I replaced it and the smell was reduced by 75%, but the smell got into the air chamber and after a week (7 days) it was almost gone. I have sent the hose to Silverfish LLC for evaluation so this can be addressed and corrected. Yes, I would buy another one with no problem. I know that putting it in the sun for 12 hours (full sun 6 hours on each side) quickly dissipates the smell. Remember this is just like camping air mattresses where vulcanized rubber is bonded to the fabric and the smell will dissipate if left on. Highly recommended compared to SN at 150% - of course 4 recommended.
