Exactly what I was hoping for! I don't use it for the traditional purpose of protecting kids from injury, but to protect my hands. I have one of those standard Ikea desks with ridiculously sharp corners so I needed something to protect my hands. It's very good for this purpose, firm but soft and lifts my hand nicely for my mouse. The texture is smooth and feels comfortable. Also, I can knock on a corner without hurting myself and it takes some effort to even feel the corner, so I think it would be relatively safe to hit it. Installing the protective cover was easy if you first put the tape on the table and then attached the foam. Aligning the corners is the hardest part to make it look nice, but otherwise it's not hard either. Arrived quickly and on time.
