This item was well packaged and made from heavy gauge materials. I believe the box weighed about 50 pounds. This is not the quality you would expect from a high end furniture store, this is a sturdy bed that is simply beautiful. Considering this is for our little daughter it won't be long, she will outgrow it and we will move on. Given the life cycle of the item I'm sure it will last many 2-5 year olds before problems arise. Took about 45 minutes to assemble, easy to read instructions and parts well labeled. Love the fact that it only uses the crib mattress (pulled out of their crib, no need to buy a mattress!) bedding. I think this is a well designed beautiful bed at a very affordable price - would recommend it to anyone!
