About 10 years ago I had one of those little jars of gel. That does not work. Bought one that uses Stone Board and Ice. Went like clockwork. I recently had to replace it and bought this gel can ice maker. What a waste of money. As I write this, I am making my second attempt at making ice cream on this useless device. Things aren't even remotely frozen. The canister sat upright in a plastic bag, per the instructions, in the freezer all night. The ice cream mix I made yesterday (not company junk but real food) chilled in the fridge overnight. I don't have ice cream or even a soft portion. I have a fruity, eggy, milky taste. And yes, the ice in the ice machine has to freeze so much that the machine no longer runs. If this company has you convinced that anything but a frozen soft serve is ice cream, you have been fooled. Return it and buy an older, more reliable ice maker.
