Review on 🏠 Flexible and Durable White Butyl Tape for RV/Mobile Home Repairs - 1/8 inch x 1 inch x 30 feet (Single Roll) by Mario Bullard

Ideal for boat gear, windows, luggage racks, etc.

This material is excellent for preventing or repairing leaks on boats. DO NOT USE SILICONE SEAL, USE BUTYL TAPE! Sealant dries and cracks, butyl tape stays flexible for literally decades. I found what I believe to be the original 1971 butyl tape in the window frame of my sailboat that looked as fresh as the new stuff I bought. Also, butyl tape is much easier to clean than caulk. I have used it on my sailboat to replace windows, lifelines and deck gear. For windows, you want to use butyl tape entirely (many videos online show how to do it properly). For deck hardware and stands, simply clean the parts and area on the boat where they go, insert the screws/bolts into the fasteners, and then wrap a ring of butyl tape where the screw/bolt goes through the fasteners. Next put and tighten. Start by making the top of the hole slightly larger to reduce the chance of cracking the gelcoat as it flexes under load. Anyway, working on my boat I almost used up the entire roll and bought a second one because no boat should be without it and it stays fresh in the zip for years (unlike sealer). Remember to say no to sealing. it will leak and when you finally decide to get it right it will be a nightmare to clean. with butyl tape.
