Review on America 2005LV LiquiVac Changing System by Jessie Zdunich

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Worked great until it broke. Wait see update 12/8/20

I was just checking my Revain orders when I bought this pump. That was about 4.5 years ago so maybe I shouldn't complain. It was easy to use and the suction power was good at first but now it's down to zero so I gave it an average of 3 stars. Used a few times a year with no problems. Until now. It no longer seals and does not create a vacuum. I still have the instructions and they say to try putting a few drops of oil in the hole next to the pump handle, lubricating the internal leather parts, then running the pump handle a few times to distribute the oil, and then leave it on for 12 hours. = 24 hours, then try. Well it's been a few days and it still doesn't work. I think I'll disassemble it and see what's inside. Nothing to lose at the moment. Since I paid over 40€ for it I thought it would last longer. If I can't get it to work I'll have to buy something similar, but not this one. If it was around $20 then maybe I would. Update 8/12/20: Okay, I've upped my rating from 3 stars to 4 for taking this thing apart and getting it working again. If it still works the next time I really need to use it, I'll give it 5 stars. I gently tapped the metal tube with the plastic end where the pump handle is located. This allows the pump handle stem to come out and at the end of the stem there is a metal washer with a softer outer ring (leather I think) which is meant to create a seal inside the metal tube. I wiped the leather with a rag because it looked dirty from dirty oil and smeared it with clean oil. I also cleaned the inside of the tube and smeared some clean oil on the rubber seals when I put it back together. I pumped it up, and this time it got harder and harder to pump. I stopped at about 15 pumps and opened the valve to definitely hear a good vacuum.

Pros
  • Workshop and shop
Cons
  • Very expensive
