I wanted to extend my internet connection from home to shopping. My shop is 100% metal and is about 400 feet from my home. At home I have an Asus AC87U dual band router. Standing in front of my storefront, I can log into my two Asus networks (both = 2.4 and 5 GB lanes) from my iPhone. In my shop, next to the same window, I have no cell service at all with either my iPhone or my old Windows 7 PC, downloaded the drivers and installed the AC1200 wireless adapter, placing it as close to the window sill as possible. Then I turned the antenna a full 45°, connected the USB to the computer and turned everything on. I am very satisfied with the quality of the connection. In the 2.4 GHz band, the signal strength is constantly in the range of 80 to 100%. On the 5GHz band, my reception is consistently between 46% and 58%. Any network band serves my purposes well. Now I can sit back and watch Netflix with my feet up and a beer. Sometimes I even do a bit of work while streaming Spotify. Great little adapter.
