Neat toy if you have the patience

Review by my 10 year old: This toy is ok. When it worked it was very cool and the directions were easy to follow. It took a super long time to get it to work and when it did work, it did not work that well. We figured out at some point that it was because of a tiny bump on one of the gears that was preventing the parts from connecting the way they needed to. We fixed it by filing off the bump with a nail file. The head of the toy also kept coming off and is super hard to get back on. In the directions it says to put the black wire on negative and the red wire on positive, but you actually needed to do it the other way around for it to work. After we had made the main part, we started making into "dog-bot”, which was listed as a level 1 build (that should be the easiest level) but making it was very hard to do, and it said when you turn one piece it would make the gears move but it did not. While I had fun when I got this toy propelling itself on its own solar energy, I would not recommend it to anyone without a lot of patience.

Pros
  • Introduces children to the world of robotics
Cons
  • Parts don't always fit together
