First of all these are probably my 4th set of wooden utensils I've purchased over the years and these are keepers. Great smooth quality finished in a sort of high grade wax or mineral oil that doesn't stick to your hands or come off. My only complaint is that one of mine did split in the handle after some use. Seemed like the wood itself was under strain and just expanded and split. Still usable just a bit of an eyesore. I would still greatly recommend this product.
