Micro SD card issues

So I will write an honest review about this speaker. Firstly I'm not sure how all these reviews can say the sound is awesome? I have a JBL and a Bose that beat this speaker for sound quality. The sound is sufficient for playing golf. The main reason for the purchase was the use on the golf course and the features (magnet, water resistance and microSD card). I have to say I used it for the first time in a class yesterday and it sounded good and the magnet is very strong so the speaker is definitely not going anywhere. My only criticism of this speaker is that I can't get the micro SD card to work, which was one of the main advantages for me, not having to use my phone during the course. I called ROKFORM support and they were no help. They said the music had to be in a certain format but they had no idea what the format was and said they would contact me but I haven't heard from them for two days. I asked if it was MP3 or WAV and they said no as soon as they said I know I have a problem. Anyway, I've tried hitting the "mode" button a few times (which you should) and just can't get any of my 3 different SD cards to work. My final straw was to order the SanDisk card recommended on the ROKFORM website and if it works I'll post this comment anyway. Maybe I just have a broken speaker, which sometimes happens, but the customer service is pathetic as I've called multiple times and sent multiple emails with little or no help. Too bad because all in all, apart from the SD card issue, I really like this speaker, it sounds good, feels very solid, the magnet is amazing. The only downside I see is that the company itself doesn't list the music formats compatible with their products in the specs or elsewhere? Instructions for each button are nowhere to be found, or I had to get this information from other users. What I found out to help others is that the "M" button or mode button is pressed once to connect to Bluetooth (little blue LED flashes) and it connects to the phone pretty easily, "+” and "-” work in two different ways, if you hold them down they control the volume and if you press them quickly they skip forward or back to the next song, the play/pause button does just that and the On/off switch is also self-explanatory. Pros: High performance battery, waterproof, long lasting, battery life Cons: MicroSD card (possibly defective), customer support, user manual, not all correct specs listed on website. Again, I'll update if the recommended SD card works, but that would still be AGAINST in my opinion, any MicroSD card that meets the size limits should work, and if not at least state it somewhere in the description . // Update September 18, 2020 // Well I have recommended the SanDisk card for use on the ROKFORM website and still no luck getting it to work. I think I have a defective product as others seem to have had no problem playing MP3 music from an SD card on their speakers. I think I'll come back for a replacement. // Update September 21, 2020 // Instead of returning my speaker I decided to buy a mini MP3 player (Oakcastle MP100) here at Revain for $25. This little guy goes well with the speaker and gives you something more than just SD card playback (shuffle, EQ, etc.). I've used this combo twice (2 rounds of golf) for about 7 hours without having to charge a device. I'll increase my rating to 4 stars if you're looking for a speaker that's loud enough to hear from across the fairway, is waterproof, sits on a cart like it's welded on, and has a long battery life . Live, then you probably can't beat it. However, if you're looking for a speaker that sounds good with deeper bass, there are better speakers in this price range. My old JBL Flip3 definitely sounds a lot better with much deeper bass. I just like the functionality of this ROKFORM golf speaker better and it sounds good enough. I'm just not sure if those other reviewers have ever owned another bluetooth speaker before they say it has amazing sound? If the word "amazing" means "LOUD" to them, then I guess.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Can be damaged
