If you have a Lexus that is more than ten years old, you will need it at some point. You must keep the original key and computer chip, so if your key breaks, DO NOT throw it away. Unscrew the broken holder and remove the metal key and chip from the holder. PLACE THE CHIP IN A SAFE PLACE BEFORE THE NEXT STEP. The metal T-key will most likely have melted plastic on top where it looks like a "T". Plastic is hammered. SOFT. A couple of decent presses will rip the extra plastic off the metal. Make sure the computer chip is at least 5 feet away from you so you don't accidentally hit the chip with a hammer. Then put the chip and metal key in the new holder and screw them together. FINISHED. If you damage a computer chip during this process, simply go to your Lexus dealership and give them your weekly paycheck and they will ship you a new key.
