Background: I've been using the original Jaybird BlueBuds X for about 3 years for everything from running to daily listening while commuting. Lately they've finally started to suffer from battery retention issues and I've definitely gotten my money's worth. I've been fascinated by the true wireless scene ever since and bought a pair of Jabra Active 65ts as soon as they were released. While the sound quality was great, I couldn't get it to stay in my ears even just walking around, and the charging case was clunky and cheaply built. I then tried the V-MODA - Forza Metallo Wireless and although the sound quality was excellent the overly long cable kept getting in my face and the heavy base that sits behind my neck kept slipping so I went back. it is the same. At this point the X4s had just come out and I was initially put off by the early reviews here. In the end I decided to give up and try it myself as I really liked my original Jaybird X. I'm very glad I did. X4 Headphones: The Jaybird X4 is exactly what I was looking for in a pair of headphones to use on my daily commute or for an after work run. The sound quality is excellent, especially after adjusting the equalizer via the Jaybird app. The promised waterproofing is a great idea considering I haven't had a downpour in it yet. The battery life was as promised. It fits very securely and I have complete confidence when running. The only downside I've noticed so far has been the pull-up system, which they've replaced the cable management clips with in this generation. While it's great on paper, it just gets in the way and sticks when the head is turned. Luckily I still have the clips that were used on previous generations of my Jaybird X which I changed the scope to and they completely solved the problem. I also still have a few free clips after contacting Jaybird directly to request them. Don't believe bad reviews. Try it and make up your own mind.---------------------------------UPDATE--- - ---- ----------- I've had them for 6 months now and I regret to say I can no longer recommend them which is very disappointing. After only a few months, the battery life has already reduced significantly and now offers about half the time as originally. Also, the earbuds Bluetooth connection keeps dropping when I walk while connected to my phone which is in one of my pockets 3ft away. At first I thought it was my phone as it was a few years old but I just upgraded to the new Samsung S10E and it delivers the same result. Jaybird no longer makes quality products and now I have to look elsewhere. I suggest you do the same.
