Old and new

I love the 35mm ART and have been waiting a long time for Sigma to release the 85mm ART. The day has finally come and I've decided to replace my old Sigma 85mm with a fancy new 85mm Art. old is better than new. I would say about 40% of my test images were out of focus, my old Sigma 85mm did much better. Some in focus seemed a little less sharp. than my old 85mm (ie the images were bad) The lens is incredibly heavy, after 10 minutes of shooting my finger and hand hurt. The old 85mm lens is incredibly light. The only improvement (and a huge one) I can point to with the new 85mm lens is that I can use any focus point in the viewfinder and lock onto the subject. With the old 85mm lens I'm limited to the center focus point, when using points on the side the lens AF chases and doesn't lock. If Art's images were always in focus, then being able to use all of my focus points is so good that I'd put up with being overweight. But given the accuracy of the autofocus, I plan to return the lens. The package is good but it wouldn't hurt to note the pictures were bad) The lens is incredibly heavy, after 10 minutes of shooting my finger and hand hurt. The old 85mm lens is incredibly light. Pros
  • HIGH PRECISION LENS: Sigma wanted to create a premium portrait prime lens with this lens and introduced high performance optics with a large f/1.4 aperture and many technologies. This lens offers an ultra-fast f/1.4 aperture, which is great for capturing images with exceptionally shallow depth of field and soft bokeh.
Cons
  • weak
