Review on 🔌 CalDigit USB-C Pro Dock: 2x DisplayPort 1.2, 85W Charging, Thunderbolt 3, UHS II SD, USB, LAN, Audio, USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 Compatible by Franklin Richardson

I own an IT consulting company. I would never recommend my customers to buy this dock even though it seems almost perfect on paper. I used the docking station with a new 2020 MacBook Air. The USB port replication worked flawlessly and delivered enough power to use the iPad with a sidecar. The docking station provided enough power to quickly charge my MacBook Air. I used it with an old Dell monitor. I had to buy an active Displayport to DVI adapter but it worked in the end. The monitor did not work when using a passive display port for a DVI cable. I had another, even older, Dell monitor with DVI, but even with the adapter active, the monitor just flickered (it worked fine with the USB-C to DVI adapter straight from the MacBook Air). I've also had issues with my MacBook Air 2020 sometimes freezing when docked. This happened several times in the week I used it before returning the dock and it only happened when I was using the dock. The worst is the ethernet port. It worked right away with my MacBook Air, but if the computer went to sleep while connected to the dock, the network switch would be disabled and the broadcast storm would disrupt internet throughout my house. This is an annoyingly common problem with USB-C docking stations. This thing is advertised to simplify IT deployment. Can you imagine having several of these devices in your office trying to figure out what was seemingly randomly shutting down your network? What a nightmare. I recommend anyone who will be using the ethernet port to stay away from this docking station.
