I park my bikes outside under a canopy, always with a disc lock. A kryptonite disc lock lasted from 2015 to 2019, after which the key wouldn't open it unless I fiddled with it for very long. WD40 helped for a year, then stopped. At this point I replaced the lock. Putting the key in these locks correctly takes concentration. The disc is slanted and you're leaning forward, so it's not an ideal situation. Take the time to ensure the key is properly and fully inserted in the lock before turning the key. And sometimes use some WD40 or graphite in the lock. I assume this will extend the lifespan of the disk lock. I was happy with 3.5 years but felt like I could tinker with the lock a little more and maybe get more life out of it. If it doesn't unlock, it's an uncomfortable feeling.
