Review on 🐱 JoyCat Kaleidoscope: Exploring Inspiring Japanese Patterns and Projects by Dawn Fischer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The book is 75% for beginners and 25% for what it promises to do.

Ok so it's a nice set and I liked the paper. I didn't rate it very low because I think the main difficulty is how to translate it. Either that or we were just jerks and I had 4 adults reading and working on some of them. We ended up having to use google to complete. We vacationed in a cabin and that was one of the craft time killers I picked up. And we had a lot of fun. The kuti trap alone was fun, and since the kids in the cabin kept getting bitten by something, we just told them to take the kuti catch. The general theme of the holiday was overstated or the instructions for every little request overcomplicated. "Honey, grab the corner and fold it gently, then turn it over." Overall, the book ranges from very simple origami to insanely articulated super-complexes impossible for beginners.

Pros
  • 30 different origami patterns
Cons
  • unreliable
