Tool melts when heated

I bought this because of all the advice and it's durable adjustable temperature controller. I had an old Plaid brand instrument with just a tip and temperature setting. Turning this tool on to just over 50% on the temperature scale would melt the three tools (and I needed higher temperatures for the hardwood I was using). , and then the tip wasn't securely fixed, it moved a lot making it difficult to control your lines. I ended up using the new tips from it in my old plaid tool.

This takes forever to heat up and doesn't burn real deep in the wood. Very cheaply made.
