I am a retired art teacher and have used many glue guns with students and on my own projects. This is by far the safest and best glue gun I've tried. Glue guns can cause nasty burns, so if you're letting kids use this gun, it has plenty of safety features. The tip is coated to prevent burns and there are 3 silicone thimbles (too small for my hands but perfect for kids) to protect fingers. The design of the gun (flat bottom handle) along with the stand keeps the glue gun in place when not in use. I really liked the silicone mat to protect the work surfaces (dry glue peels off immediately) and the case keeps all the accessories together. In addition to the regular glue stick pack, the set includes glitter glue sticks that are fun to try. This product also includes stickers and a fun ruler as a bonus. I also like the longer cord which I haven't had with other glue guns. I tried both heat settings and found that the lower setting was just as effective as the higher. I definitely recommend this glue gun. Although children should always be supervised when using such a product, I consider this product to be very safe.
