Yes it does play with velcro but a lot less than other boots. He loves them and has literally shown everyone in his nursery his leg as soon as he started. I was nervous the sole would be too hard but they are great. He's had them since he was 14 months old and I will most likely buy them in other sizes. He walks confidently. Great shoes for mom for the first time.
