My child plays with water coloring books (no mess, has been 2 years and now 3) He's only a year old from this. We personally like "Water Magic" by Galt. But Melissa and Doug did a good job. For comparison: M&D: The brush resembles a brush, but is much thicker than the thick handle on the back. Because it holds water. Made from high quality plastic. Galt: The brush is like a small sturdy pen: No leaking, hard to break when a child drops it M&D: Drawing books: Good quality, water dries quickly. Better for children over 3 years old, not over 2 years old. Galt: The quality of the drawing books is first class, the water dries at just the right time, so the children don't have to draw again and again. especially the 2 year olds :) Net, M&D is a value for MoneyGalt: slightly higher level than M&D, but both do their jobs very well, they had no problems at all.
