Review on ๐Ÿพ Highly Efficient Air Purifiers with Advanced Ferris 360 True HEPA Filter for Pet Dander, Smoke, and Dust by Savanna Wilson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This air purifier measures air quality and has a downloadable clock.

We have a few ornamental birds that put a lot of feather dust in the air. I was fascinated by this air purifier as it shows the air quality with a colored ring of air: green is good quality, blue is normal, red is poor quality. Setting up this unit wasn't difficult, but the instructions leave a lot to the imagination. . One thing I don't like, which is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that the watch only shows military time. There is no way to change it to 12 hour format. When it comes to the evening hours, I need to calculate the time to get the current time. Otherwise, I am delighted with this air purifier. Given the bird dust and my smoking I was surprised to find this device showing a green ring most of the time. To test this, I held a lit cigarette close to it when it was green and it turned red almost immediately. When I took out a cigarette it turned green again after a few minutes. I've now set it to auto so it shifts into a higher gear when the air quality gets worse. When the air quality is good (green), the fan runs very quietly, when the air quality is poor (red), it becomes significantly louder. I have yet to see how long it takes for the filter to get dirty since we got it. I've only been there a week, but so far I'm really enjoying it. I just wish there was an option to change it to a 12 hour format which was easier for me to communicate with. I'm disappointed that it doesn't always detect other pollutants in the air. Our house is currently being sanded drywall. Drywall dust covered everything in the house and could be seen in the air. It was so bad I kept sneezing and my nose was running all the time. This air purifier glowed green all the time, which means the air quality was perfect. I checked the filter on the unit and it was full of plaster dust, but I didn't see any evidence that the filter was full of dust. I think I need a new filter to continue testing this unit. With replacement filters costing $25 each, this can be an expensive air purifier depending on the amount of dust and pollutants in the air. To remove some of the dust from the air, we used a box fan with an oven filter on the suction side, and the filter was filled with dust in less than half an hour. UPDATE 01/30/20: After the drywall fiasco, I removed the filter from a block stuffed with plaster dust and vacuumed it. This got rid of the dust on the outside of the filter and it seems to be working very well. Although this method does not remove all dust from the filter, it can help extend the life of the filter and avoid frequent replacements. I wonder if this air filter is more sensitive to very small contaminants in the air like pollen, smoke etc than to larger particles like dust. Dust will accumulate, but will not affect the clean air indicator light. UPDATE 05/19/20: This air filter rating has been raised from 3 to 4 stars as the internal filter has been vacuumed for about 5 months with a single cleaning. When I removed the old filter to replace it, I couldn't believe how much dust it had collected. Of course, that doesn't eliminate routine dusting, but it definitely helps reduce the amount of dust in the large room it's in. If vacuuming the filter multiple times means it only needs to be replaced twice a year, I think the cost of replacing the filter is justified. I'm used to using military time on the clock and I really like that I can easily see the clock from across the room. I leave the unit on Auto so it only gets a little noisy when it detects extra dust or pollutants in the air. At the moment, the fan very rarely gets louder. I hope this review was helpful to you and will update this review if my opinion changes.
