1. I'm not a professional tinter, I've tinted smaller discs twice2. I had the help of my husband.3. Toning is installed INSIDE. You don't work with this material outside. You will get dust and dirt underneath and it will be backwards.4. This material adheres very well. The worst thing is that I'm so inexperienced that I can't get all the bubbles out. So I got a big sheet because we have 2 full size sliding doors in the apartment we rent. They let GOBS light through. SPECIALLY after 4 p.m. The sun hits her almost directly, like a cake in the face. I love the view we have so privacy is very important to me as I hate when the blinds are closed. So photo 1. Half of the sliding door without tinting, the other half with. As you can see it is very bright outside. This is normal for this area. The hue is very important. My husband and I took turns going outside and seeing if we could guess what the other was doing inside the house. We both lost that game, but there was a lot of laughter and it turned out to be right. You can't see the side of the house through this thing. At least during the day. I haven't tested how it works at night, but I still close the blinds after sunset. In short, it works. To install! It wasn't fun. Again, we are not professionals. I used a large 10 inch window squeegee to help and I had a spray bottle with some water and Dawn dish soap. Not sure if this will help anyone, but it worked better than regular water (which I did with a smaller window). I think if my husband didn't help me it would be very frustrating and annoying and it would be a much bigger mess. I poured some water on the skids in front of the door. OK. So the man cleaned the windows, I trimmed the first sheet, I left the left and right edges as is and just cut the length, the man sprayed on the window and removed the film from the back of the tint while I held I don't recommend taking it off THE WHOLE FILM at once. This shade clings to static electricity in almost everything. My pants, the door, the wall, myself. So we did it piece by piece. Film back and I straightened it out, starting from the top. Leave the excess on the left and right sides because we wanted to trim them off later. If you have enough soapy water on the glass, you can smudge the tint a bit. This is very handy when you are just starting out with the installation. Just try starting with the finished end at the factory as a starting edge. So we lined up at the top, smoothed out the corners, and went down. It won't be perfect once you start putting it on. Don't worry, just make sure there's enough water in the jar, but you don't want it to spill. It is too much. The hazier the better. When I got to the part of the tint that still had the foil on, I held the tint up to the window (try to stay close to the foil while doing this, because if you pull the foil without holding the tint, the tint comes off). off the glass and then you just have to go back and do it again) and the husband put on more film and sprayed more soapy water over the next 2 feet or so. Repeat this until you reach the bottom of the glass. You need a squeegee for that. I started top and middle. Since my top edge was pretty good, I really didn't have to worry. I preferred to hold the squeegee at an angle so that the water behind the paint was facing down. I kept going back to the middle and working my way to the edge. Going around the doorknob sucks. When I was done with the left side my husband used a ruler and a really good razor to trim off the excess and I moved on to the next side. Finished that side and we swapped places so I could fix the rest of the little bubbles and debris on the left side and he cut off the right side then started on the excess on the bottom. This is basically how we made the left and right sides of the door, but I aligned the top and right sides of the shadow to the right side of the sliding door, which worked really well. I only had to trim the left side and bottom for excess. After we were done I spent a little more time with the scraper just to try and get rid of the bubbles. Second photo after we were done. The light is on in my house. I left the door partially open so you can see the difference. I will definitely buy it again so I can make another sliding glass door in the apartment.
