This book appears to have been written for someone with considerable resources, in which case you wouldn't even bother to do it yourself. This book is based on a project and calls for huge 2-3 inch thick concrete slabs filled with rebar. shows. To be honest I know how to build and polish huge concrete slabs filled with rebar. The fact is that it will be for countertops that this type of concrete doesn't make sense unless you have the money to buy very strong cabinets and maybe reinforce your house if it's (most likely) made of wood. The houses will support the distributed weight, but the excessive weight of a project like the book is mentioned in the book as a problem.) I can't imagine my chipboard cabinets will support the weight of the solid panels the author proposes to build. This book is more for whimsical artistic statements. I mean if that's what you're looking for then this book has 5 stars. I doubt most of us are looking for it.
